Larry Hinds brings more than 55 years of professional music experience as a performer, recording engineer, producer, and educator. Growing up in Kenosha, Wisconsin, he was surrounded by music from an early age. Inspired by his parents' love of music, Larry began playing bass guitar in local rock bands at just twelve years old while also studying classical piano and performing with his junior high school orchestra. His early fascination with recording equipment and sound technology would eventually lead to a remarkable career in the recording industry.

After relocating to Southern California in 1977, Larry established himself as a recording engineer, working with internationally recognized artists including Michael Jackson, Jermaine Jackson, Chris Squire (Yes), Jonathan Cain (Journey), Bruce Hornsby, and Peter Frampton. He also engineered a Grammy-nominated comedy album by Robin Williams. Throughout his recording career, Larry continued performing on guitar, bass, and keyboards.

Today, Larry remains active as both a performer and recording engineer, producing and mixing music from his home studio while performing throughout western North Carolina as a solo guitarist and vocalist. He also performs in the guitar duo Contigo with fellow Wild Roots instructor Amy Brucksch.

At Wild Roots Fine Arts Academy, Larry teaches guitar, bass guitar, improvisation, and contemporary music styles with an emphasis on rock and acoustic genres. He enjoys helping students develop solid musicianship while encouraging creativity, confidence, and the skills needed to perform, create, and record their own music.
