Summer Music Camp 2025: Musical Instrument Families

Build your knowledge of musical instruments by immersing yourself in this four-day educational experience, no prior training required. Enjoy learning about the different instrument families, each day showcasing a different group. From classical violin and harp, to more traditional instruments, such as the banjo and hammered-dulcimer, let our team show you how it's done. Then, if desired, you get to try! A great introduction to instruments you've always been curious about.

Each day will start with an introduction of the instrumental family of the day. This will include demonstrations and a short group performance. Students will be placed into groups based on age, and will rotate between each instrument being demonstrated, allowing for hands-on opportunities. Each day, a short chamber group recital will be performed by the instrumentalists to show how the instruments would be used and heard playing together. Opportunities will include learning about music composers and music history, and a chance to make your own musical instrument project to play as part of a group that will wrap up the week.

Camp is offered July 28-31 (9am-4pm). Bring your own lunch (BYOL).
Ages 5-Adult (camp chaperones will be provided for younger participants).
