R. Allen Gilbert
Flute & Piccolo
R. Allen Gilbert is a flute performer and educator in the upstate area of South Carolina. Allen is the newly appointed Adjunct Professor of Flute at Gardner-Webb University as well as a flute teacher in the Spartanburg area.
Allen earned his MM in Flute Performance from Converse University 2025 and his BA in Music from Southern Wesleyan University in 2023. Allen has been an active participant in various ensembles throughout his education including wind ensembles, orchestras, jazz ensembles, and choirs.
Allen is a laureate of the 2025 RISE Symposium where he won the graduate music performance category. Allen was also a part of the 2025 MasterWorks Festival Orchestra where he performed in the orchestra and participated in a week-long flute intensive with Eastman professors Bonita Boyd and Anne Harrow.
Allen’s biggest philosophy for his students is for critical self-evaluation and learning to be an effective self-teacher.
