R. Allen Gilbert

R. Allen Gilbert is a flutist, educator, and active performer based in the Upstate of South Carolina. He currently serves as Adjunct Professor of Flute at Gardner-Webb University and maintains a private flute studio in the Spartanburg area.

Allen earned his Master of Music in Flute Performance from Converse University in 2025 and his Bachelor of Arts in Music from Southern Wesleyan University in 2023. Throughout his collegiate career, he performed extensively in wind ensembles, orchestras, jazz ensembles, and choirs, developing a broad musical background and a passion for collaborative performance.

A dedicated and accomplished performer, Allen was named a Laureate at the 2025 RISE Symposium, receiving top honors in the graduate music performance category. He was also selected to perform with the 2025 MasterWorks Festival Orchestra, where he participated in an intensive week of study with renowned Eastman School of Music professors Bonita Boyd and Anne Harrow.

At Wild Roots Fine Arts Academy, Allen enjoys helping students build strong technical skills, musical confidence, and artistic expression. His teaching philosophy encourages students to develop thoughtful practice habits, evaluate their own progress, and become independent, lifelong learners.
